Crispy Baked French Toast

3 large eggs
1 1/4 cups milk
3/4 tsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c plain bread crumbs
8 slices dry white bread
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
syrup of choice

Beat eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla in shallow bowl until well blended.  
Place bread crumbs in shallow dish.  
Dip bread in egg mixture, then coat with bread crumbs.  
Place on large wire rack.
Add butter and oil into pan, place pan in 400 degree oven for 1-2 minutes until butter melts.  
Remove pan from oven.
Place bread slices into pan, in single layer, turning over once to coat both sides of bread slices with butter mixture.  
Return to oven and bake 15 minutes.  Turn bread slices over and bake 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve with butter and maple syrup.

  1. This looks so delicious!! Tried to make french toast years ago. Let’s just say it didn’t end well. This might just get me to try it again.
