Dry Erase Frame Calendar

Hello All!!! I decided to do a calendar to organize my zoo a little more. I’ve been wanting to get one for a while, but to be honest, I’m too cheap! (I think the nice word for that is frugal… Yeah, that’s what I meant! LOL)

Anyway, it took a while to complete how I wanted it. I wanted to be able to change things out on it a little bit more than the classic calendar, so I hope you like it.  😀  Anyway, here goes!!!

Excuse the arrangement of those pics!  The blogger thing hates me!!!  Anyway, I took some hooks and dipped them in black paint to match the frame.  I’m going to be honest here, the first one didn’t have much thought behind it, so I dropped it in and had to dig it out with my fingers!  As you can imagine, I had paint all over my fingers.  THEN I remembered I needed to take pics….  SO after getting paint on my camera, thank God it was acrylic, I realized it would be easier to fold and use a paperclip to ‘fish’ for my hooks!!!

****Please note: fishing at the zoo is not normally allowed, this was a one time opportunity!  LOL

In order to ensure the decor over the clothes pin was interchangeable, I glued cardboard on the pin and velcro on the cardboard.  Then I glued some velcro on the back of my decorations.  Again, make sure you cut the right size paper so that the cardboard is covered up!  I wanted to do a BBQ themed decoration, because I love them and it’s my birthday month so I can if I want to!  LOL.  Aaah…..  It’s so nice being the zookeeper!!!

I did the other side with Paw Prints, my Monkey’s school mascot is a panther and school starts in August.  I also went back and used black ink to stamp the edges of the month holder to give it some extra beauty (Zookeeper thinks:  and cover up where I somehow managed to get marker marks on it!!!)

Here is a not so close up of the finished project.  I used string to hang the dry erase markers from a keyring on the hook.  To hang them, I put rubberbands around the lids of the marker then tied string to it.

This way, if the get twisted it doesn’t matter and we don’t have to fight to take one off, just pull the marker out of the cap.  Until I hang something on the other side, I had to hang the picture on the far right of the hangy thingy on the back to keep it straight.

Hope you all enjoyed it!!!  I know there are lots of calendars and such out there, but I like finding ways to NOT have to buy anything!!!
