When I was a little girl, my Granny opened her own flower shop, Cathy’s Flowers and Gifts.  She opened it with plenty of handmade, amazing items.  My Pa-Pa would do the woodwork and my Granny would paint each one by hand.  To me, each piece had so much love in them.  They were beautiful and I greatly wish I had some of those pieces in my home today.

My cousin and I would go to the shop with Granny quite often.  We would ‘work’ by filling balloons with sand to anchor balloon bouquets and stuff and seal envelopes for whatever purpose they served.  We would ‘earn’ our lunch and get to go across the street by ourselves on our lunch break, we were very grown up you see.

We also had the privilege of eating way more Hershey’s Kisses than our parents knew about or desired to allow us to have.  LOL.  To this day, I absolutely love those little things!  They are definitely my kryptonite!

Almost 30 years later, Granny’s shop has grown and morphed.  The little shop she had now has three florists and even does events!  No longer does Granny & Pa-Pa make so much of the merchandise by hand and the name has changed to Cathy’s Flowers and Events but the love that one feels in that shop is still the same.

I’ve had the privilege of helping to decorate very elegant houses for the holidays, assist in decorating and staffing some of the most beautiful weddings ever.  My favorite Uncle is the owner now and he is also an award winning florist who is amazingly talented!

I love helping him, even when he goes all neurotic stressed out crazy during events and Valentine’s Day.  LOL.  Don’t worry, only the staff and family get to see that side of him.  LOL
