WOG Bracelets

These lovely little silicone bracelets have appeared out of what seems like nowhere began spreading messages galore with their rising and falling popularity.  A trip to any major retailer will give you an array of these bracelets with various colors and messages.  Some aren’t very good messages, I will say.  Many I won’t let my daughter wear!

Now there is one that spreads a message I can get behind.  In advance, I’m will say apologize to the guys.  Sorry, boys, this ones for us girls!  These little bracelets sport the message “I am a Woman of God”.  I love having this little reminder, as I need one from time to time!
I know ‘WWJD’ has been a popular thing for a while now, it was even a huge focus in the movie ‘The Woodcarver’, which I recently reviewed.  I will shamefully admit guilt to answering WWJD with a retort in the general area of ‘Well, Jesus wouldn’t have had to deal with this because…’  Perhaps the question would have been better suited if it asked ‘WWGT’  (what would God think?), at least then I wouldn’t be able to come up with a retort!  That one just kind of smacks me in the face!
I digress, the reminder that ‘I am a WOG’ is one that requires and asks for no response.  It is a statement, plain and simple.  Either you are, or you are not.  I feel like that is a reminder I need.  I never forget about God, but when my temper flares Ido tend to forget who I am supposed to be. 
As a WOG, there are things that are expected to shine in us.  Sometimes, my darkness dims it up a bit.  As of late, I’m not sure it’s even dimly lit, much less shining in the the reflection of God’s Great Glory!  I could come up with a thousand excuses, but the truth is simple: I CONTROL MY ACTIONS!
