Hand Lettered Truth: Be Encouraged, Uplifted, Loved
Hand Lettered Truth is a gift book that is filled with 60 hand-lettered verses. Each one is different and stunningly beautiful. Lifting us up with inspiration and love, one verse at a time.
I’ve always had a love for calligraphy and, as an adult, have played some with hand lettering. It definitely brings me joy to draw it out, but I am not brave or creative enough to do it without an image to go off of so I am always in awe of artistic people who can create such beautiful pieces of work. I love that they are able to come up with how to do it and just…. do it!
Perhaps my issue is one of fear, I’m always afraid it won’t look good so I don’t even try. I can probably also blame that at least part of that fear for my lack of creativity in the last few years, for a crafty website being less than crafty most of the time.
From time to time, something that I do for this website brings me inspiration. You can read about How a Tiny Little Pearl Inspired Me for another uplifting little story. I’d love to hear your comments, on this and that.
Back to the Book….
This book is packed full of 60 different scriptures, each one hand lettered with different colors and designs. She discusses how her hobby became her personal meditation with God. Her first hand lettered truth book wasn’t a published book, but rather a gift for her oldest daughter. In the introduction, she talks a little more about that and so much of it resounded with me.
The intro, being a typed ‘note,’ so to speak, was deeply touching and inspiring. It reminded me of the valleys I’ve been through, the mountains I’ve seen and the journeys all along the way. Amazing how powerful the intro was for me, as it is literally 1 slightly long and 2 short paragraphs. Perhaps her next book will be hand lettered inspirations that she gained from meditating on each scripture.
Debbie writes, “May it leave you thirsting for more.” Before I could even get to the first page of Hand Lettered Truth, her introduction reminded me of a deep, burning desire that lives within me, often getting pushed to the back burner as so many other things bombard me on a daily basis. I can absolutely expect each scripture, beautifully written and expressed on page after page, to deepen my love for Him and bring me encouragement.
Hand Lettered Truth Author: Debbie Bratton
In 2014, Debbie began using her love for hand lettering and calligraphy as a way to meditate on God’s word. After sharing her creations, many of her friends and followers encouraged her to do more with her designs. Fast forward to 2020 to where she and her husband have both a small lettering business, an Etsy shop and more than 300k followers on Instagram!

As a photographer (and a Catholic), I find inspiration in God’s beautiful creations in nature. Thanks and God bless!
There is inspiration in nature everywhere in Nature! What kind of photography to do? May God Bless You and Keep You.
I could use some relief from stress. Between the kids being home for months on end and my husband barely here because he’s working so much, it seems like it all falls onto me. Every little thing that has to be done. I need some me time but no time for it, and it’s bringing me down.
That’s rough. I wish I had some brilliant response that would make it easier for you. How old are your little ones?
Fitness
And motivational quotes
So, I am covered in poison ivy at the moment and can’t go to the gym (getting hot helps the oils from the poison spread) so my fitness level has dropped and my weight gain has returned. All of that was to say, the fitness part of your comment made me laugh because I’ve become all lazy again.
Motivational quotes, now those, I can do!
We have been trying to send snail mail this summer to brighten people’s days that may be quarantined.
That’s a great idea! I’ve started a penpal group in an organization I’m in. I always send out birthday cards anyway, but I’m trying to remember to up the written communication more!
Relationships are arguably my single most important area of my life. It is also the area of life that gets deprioritized when things get hard.
I completely relate! I’m terrible about forgetting to check in with people when things get crazy.
I could use inspiration in achieving my weight loss goals.
Me too! My poison ivy everywhere has definitely put a halt on my fitness routine!
I could use some inspiration and help being away from my family. I miss them so much especially now.
I can completely relate to that! We haven’t seen my husbands Mom in over a year now, before because of work and now Covid. It’s miserable to say the least! My post on connecting with relatives far away may be of use to you. I’ll work on some ideas!
I definately could use more inspiration for creative (and fun) learning activities to do with my kids at home
That’s one I’ve been working on. Hopefully inspiration will strike soon for all of us!
I think I need inspiration In dealing with COVID-19 and social distancing. Getting back to normal seems like a a distant goal.
Most definitely! I think we all do right now!
I could use inspiration on keeping kids busy during this time, especially how to keep them engaged once school restarts since they will be doing at least 3 days online next school year no matter what it seems.
I’ll get on that! I’ve got some great ways to keep them on task when school starts! I’ll post it soon, probably toward the end of July or beginning of August!
Motivational sayings are inspiring and help keep you on track when you need a little boost.
They certainly do! It always helps when they are gorgeously written!
Stress relief and more indoor things to do with my kid this summer.
Indoor activities are always great for super hot days! I’ll work on some posts for you! Stress relief is certainly an essential area for me as well! Thanks for your input!
I could use some inspiration to get motivated to do more during this covid time. I think just reading about what good things people are doing in the world would be a big help.
Inspiration and motivation are definitely harder to come by right now! I’ll put some thought in and try and come up with something spectacular. Until then, keep your head up friend!
I would love to go on a healthy diet and recreate lots of things. I like exploration and adventure a lot.
In my daily life!
I could use inspiration right now with coping with all of this craziness going on in our country. I also wish people would get serious and wear masks. This is crazy the amount of people who don’t.
You and me both! I don’t know why it’s so difficult to wear a mask for a little while! I’m working on some inspiration to post! We’ll get through this!
I definitely need some meal time inspiration. We seem to get caught in the same food rut and make and eat the same things over and over.
Definitely keep an eye on the emails if you get them! I’ve got some great posts in the works that will help you mix it up some! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Recipe inspiration
I’m on it! Have you checked out our recipe page? There are some fantastic ones posted!
I’m really getting grouchy with all the Covid restrictions.
Yes!!! Me as well. From time to time I have to just get out, drive somewhere or something to get my sanity back some!
I could use some spiritual uplifting in my life as I am on the end of my life.
I could use inspiration to lose the weight I’ve gained.
I could use some inspiration to garden!
I could use inspiration in organization. Being the mom of a large family, I am always trying to find storage solutions.
I think personally I feel I still need help in letting go, letting go of the hurt and pain that still slices through my heart. I want to let go, but I am having a hard time doing so. So maybe verses in forgiveness.
@tisonlyme143
You and me both. I’m terrible with holding on to my pain and anger. I’m working on the myself and will try to post about it soon, maybe it will help both of us.
I could use inspiration in reaching out to extended family even when it feels awkward and you’re an introvert.
I’ll work on that. I did do a post before about connecting with family that lives far away, maybe that post will help. In the meantime, I’ll work on some ideas for you!
