#PATTERNSOFEVIDENCE

POE Image
My thoughts…  I can honestly say that I enjoyed the documentary.  It sought to prove or disprove, rather than to simply believe what the Word says.  I love that we have made discoveries that make this endeavor possible and was fascinated by the findings and theories of the various archeologists and the way that the video was put together.  In my opinion, it was a great documentary.  Factual, interesting and thorough.  If you are curious at all, or would simply just like to have a little more knowledge, you should take the time to watch this film.  It would definitely be a great conversation piece!
About Patterns of Evidence Exodus:
For more than 50 years, the vast majority of the world’s most prominent archaeologists and historians have proclaimed that there is no hard evidence to support the Exodus story found in the Bible.  In fact, they say that the archaeological record is completely opposed to the Bible’s account.  This view of extreme skepticism has spread from academia to the world.  The case against the Exodus appears to be so strong that even some religious leaders are labeling this ancient account as historical fiction.  Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney begins with the questions, “Is the Bible just a myth, or did the archaeologists get it wrong?”  He decides to tackle this issue wit a deliberate scientific approach.   After examining the details in the biblical text, he journeys across the globe to search for patterns of evidence firsthand.  The result is the most in-depth archaeological investigation into the Exodus from Egypt ever captured on film.   This scientific documentary’s goal is to communicate the TRUTH of the Bible and help equip believers with defending their faith and the Bible.
The DVD features stunning animations and a cast including narrator, Kevin Sorbo (God’s Not Dead, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), interviews with leading archaeologists including Israel Finkelstein, Kent Weeks, and David Rohl, and guest appearances by Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu and Shimon Peres.

Susie’s Hope

Susie's Hope

About the Movie

Based on the true story that successfully passed Susie’s Law in North Carolina, which seeks stricter punishment for animal abusers, Susie’s Hope brings to life the inspirational relationship between pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. Recognizing reflect and abuse were to blame for the tragic attack that nearly claimed her life 10 months earlier, Donna resumes the battered animal and accepts her as family. Together, they learn to heal, love and forgive as thyey lead a historic effort to seek justice and protection, not only for Susie, but all animals. Starring Emmanuelle Vaguer (40 Days and 40 Nights), Burgess Jenkins (Remember The Titans) and Andrea Powell (Ender’s Game, The Twighlight: Breaking Dawn Saga: Part 2), Susie’s Hope is an incredible story of love, loss and redemption.

My Thoughts

So I will admit I bawled like a baby throughout pretty much this whole movie.  Although my hormones of my pregnancy or the fact that I’m unable to be near my own pups right now could quite easily be blamed!  Susie’s Hope is such a touching story.  I especially love the perspectives they used in filming some of the scenes!  While the movie description will give you plenty of the story, I just really hope you’ll consider taking the time to get the movie or even donate to the cause.  Honestly, any cause that helps animals with their care, legitimate ones.  I’m not always convinced that these big charities are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing (this is not at all referencing Susie’s Hope).  It’s our responsibility to ensure that we are donating to causes that are really helping.

Sadly, there are so many stories similar to this that don’t end so well.  I’m thankful for someone who had the opportunity and were willing to stand up to bring attention to abused animals.  They certainly need a voice.  It wasn’t long ago that I saw a picture on facebook going around trying to find some fool hurting animals so that they could put help put an end to it.  That’s a good start, but it really isn’t enough.  Would you be that person who didn’t say anything about something like this for fear of hurting a friendship?  Or would you be brave enough to put a stop to it and turn them in?  The right thing isn’t always easy, but it is always right.  I love the quote found at the end of the movie.  “It may be true that the law cannot change the heart, but it can restrain the heartless.”  -Martin Luther King, Jr.  Another quote I will add, which is heard often from my husband, is this:  “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” -Edmund Burke.  Don’t be one who helps evil to triumph, stand up and do something.

About SusieSusie

Susie was found nearly dead in Greenfield Park in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 20, 2009. Just a puppy, Susie had licked the face of her owner’s newborn baby. Her owner became violent—she was beaten so severely her jaw was broken. That wasn’t enough, though. She was then set on fire and left for dead. Incredibly and against all odds Susie survived. Donna Lawrence adopted her two months later. Susie is now a trained therapy dog and event won the American Humane Association’s American Hero Dog this year!

When Calls the Heart: Change of Heart

When Calls the Heart Change of HeartYou may or may not have caught the reviews of the first two videos in thee When Calls the Heart series inspired by Janette Oke.  If you didn’t, you can read about them at these links:

When Calls the Heart
When Calls the Heart: Lost and Found

Change of Heart is done just as well as the first two movies.  I’m emphasized before that even if you haven’t seen the first two, you can still thoroughly enjoy any one in the collection at any point in time.  Each film gives a short story update that catches you up to the relevant things presented in the film you are watching.

With sweet innocence and polished sophistication, Change of Heart again brings the pair of sisters together as Elizabeth’s little sister comes for a visit and inevitibly causes a little trouble.  As the viewer, I have frequent moments where I want to scream through the television at Julie, Elizabeth’s little sister, then other times when I have to admit the parts of myself from long ago I could see in her innocence.  The bright, unshakeable knowledge that there is good in all people resounds through Julie.  As an older sister myself, I can also see the pain and annoyance that plagues Elizabeth as she tries unsuccessfully to help her sister make the right decisions.

Don’t feel too bad for the guys though, there is adventure just waiting to get out as the film progresses.  Beyond the sisterly relationship, Elizabeth’s romantic interest Jack the Mounty is mixing things up a little.  It was a great storyline as Jack did what any good mounty would do: followed his instinct to protect the one he loved and Coal Valley regardless of his own safety.

About the Movie

Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Jack s (Daniel Lissing) relationship blossoms into romance in Change of Heart, the fifth installment of the When Calls the Heart series. Finally winning Elizabeth over, Jack is devastated to learn of his Constable reassignment. When Elizabeth s sister, Julie, arrives in Coal Valley with the new Constable, Jack reluctantly tells Elizabeth the news and must leave town. Julie, ever the curious one, stumbles upon a mysterious wounded man and rushes him to Abigail s (Lori Loughlin) for care, unknowingly putting herself, Abigail and Elizabeth in grave danger at the hands of the infamous Tolliver gang. Hearing of their distress, Jack rides back to Coal Valley to save the women in a desperate race against time.

#SavingChristmas Movie Review with #KirkCameron

960X200

About the movie:

This Christmas, have your family join with Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.” KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is an engaging story that provides a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season. So take in the splendor; take in the majesty; take in the story. Take it all in… and let’s put Christ back in Christmas! KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is in theaters for a limited engagement beginning November 14 for two weeks only!

My Thoughts:

I find myself very blessed to having had the privilege to preview this film.  This film is not just another typical meaning of Christmas film.  It teaches us so much more.  We’ve all heard the story right?  About Jesus’ birth.  We know that one, hopefully by heart.  In my opinion, this film takes the symbolism of the various traditions we have and it shows how they celebrate our Heavenly Father.

Saving Christmas does an amazing job of showing how one could have a distaste for Christmas traditions, however rather than taking the typical stance and making the person who feels that way a villain, the character is embraced.  Through love and understanding, Cameron presents a truth that I will admit that in all my years I managed to not know about the traditions of Christmas.

The film has inspired me to research the Biblical roots of our so-called secular traditions.  I won’t tell you which ones, or how where to find them in the Bible because I don’t think I could ever share that in writing with the effect that is brought through the film.  I encourage you to see the film, I truly feel like it will leave you feeling filled with not only love for our Savior, but also a new understanding and gratefulness of Christmas traditions.

The Prize

A SIGNED Saving Christmas movie poster (by Kirk Cameron), the soundtrack to the film, and a car air freshener (they smell like Christmas trees)

Veil of Tears

veilA couple of years ago I was given a glimpse into some things that I couldn’t stand. I began learning about some of the terrible things that are still happening to women around the world today. Like sex slavery, forced prostitution, and so many more horrible things. I realized that without the knowledge of what was going on, there was no way I could make a difference. I don’t know that I will ever feel like I make a huge difference, but I do know that I feel better when I am able to at least do something. To begin that journey, one must begin to obtain knowledge about the subject!

From Gospel For Asia

Imagine facing hatred, abandonment, or even death simply because of your gender.

The award-winning documentary, “Veil of Tears,” tells the untold story of millions of women in South Asia who are abused for no other reason than they are women. However, despite centuries of oppression, women once in their shoes are reaching in and bringing everlasting hope.

Meet True Survivors

These are women who have withstood a lifetime of adversity. Take a journey where few dare to venture, through the eyes of these women, and others, who unveil their personal stories of oppression, rejection, tragedy and even triumph. Get a glimpse of the resilience of the human spirit and the hope that has changed the lives of millions like these and is helping change millions more.

Narrated by Grammy-Nominated Recording Artist Natalie Grant, this film was shot on-location across stunning South Asia in some of the most remote tribal villages in the world today. This is a journey where few have gone and few can imagine.

Ragamuffin DVD

ragamuffinRagamuffin by definition is:  a ragged often disreputable person; especially :  a poorly clothed often dirty child.  Funny how, in reality, that word describes all of us.  Ragamuffin is based on the life of Rich Mullins, a true story, about his life and struggles as a musician, a human and especially as a Christian.
From personal experience, I can say that sometimes from the outside it looks like Christians have no struggles.  It’s so easy to look in the ‘window’ and see Christians marching on, making it through the tough times seemingly as if nothing bad is happening.  From the outside, it appears as if they don’t struggle much at all.  Then, when one becomes a Christian, it’s almost like we expect things to be suddenly perfect.  For God to fix everything for us.  Throughout time, we learn that reality is we are all surviving our trials with peace only by giving our turbulence to God.  It’s a tough lesson to learn, I’m praying one day I’m decent at it.
I love that the movie shows the struggles.  Tells things from an honest perspective.  This is something we need more of: straightforward honesty.
Where to Buy
Please point your readers to this URL for purchase of the DVD:
Also, consider encouraging your readers to buy one DVD for themselves and give one away to a Ragamuffin in their lives.

About the Film:
RAGAMUFFIN is based on the life of Rich Mullins, a musical prodigy who rose to Christian music fame and fortune only to walk away and live on a Navajo reservation. An artistic genius, raised on a tree farm in Indiana by a callous father, Rich wrestled all of his life with the brokenness and crippling insecurity born of his childhood. A lover of Jesus and a rebel in the church, Rich refused to let his struggles with his own darkness tear him away from a God he was determined to love. As he struggled with success in Nashville and depression in Wichita, Rich desired most of all to live a life of honest and reckless faith amidst a culture of religion and conformity.

About Rich Mullins:
Singer and songwriter Richard Wayne “Rich” Mullins was best known for his worship song “Awesome God” which has been embraced as modern classics by many Christians. His music has been covered by many artists, including Caedmon’s Call, Amy Grant, Jars of Clay, Michael W. Smith, Third Day, John Tesh, and Hillsong United. Mullins’ musical career formally began with Zion Ministries in the late 1970s, where he wrote music and performed with a band called Zion.  Mullins first solo hit, “Awesome God,” appeared on his third album and brought his music to a wider audience. Rich Mullins was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) on April 29, 2014.

DVD Giveaway: A Telling Silence

010956I never quite expect a third movie to be as touching as the first, yet When Calls the Heart: A Telling Science managed to reach out and pull heart strings as well as its predecessors.  Each of the When Calls the Heart movies have somehow been able to reach deep within and I look forward to seeing what Michael Landon, JR does next.  They manage to tell this very touching story without anything inappropriate and without being predictable.  A movie that has you wanting to yell at the characters on the screen is, in my book, always a winner.
