Personal Oasis: 3 Tips to Get Yours!

Personal Oasis How to Make it HappenI have to say, having an Oasis of some type is the key to my sanity.  Obviously, we can’t go to our ideal Oasis anytime we want (or sometimes ever) but you can create your own.  Having a temporary means of escape is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves emotionally.  You need one, trust me!  There are times where we need to be able to go somewhere and just breathe.  To me, that’s what my oasis is: a place to breathe, collect my thoughts, ponder and get away for a little while.  It doesn’t actually matter what or where it is: a spot in a closet, in the yard, the laundry room, wherever.  So long as you can go there and escape for a minute.

1. Find a location.  Wherever it is, you must be able to go there and be away from everything, even if it’s only away in your mind.  If you are limited on space, hang a sheet to section off a piece of a room or clean out the floor of a closet and shut yourself in.  Personally, I prefer an outdoor space as I love being outside.  You could even take a blanket and make that your space.  Whenever it is laid out, sit down and allow yourself to just breathe, you are somewhere else.

2.  Remember that whatever your space is, that is strictly for you.  Teach the kiddos, spouse, roommates or whomever that when you are in that spot, you are in a time out where you cannot be interrupted.  It may take a few  times, but they will get it.  At this point, when interrupted all I have to say is ‘hold on, I’m in my zone’ and I am left alone.  It’s nice.

3. You can use your space for whatever makes you happy or relaxes you.  Color, journal, breathe or simply look around for something you haven’t noticed before, noting the intricacies of a leaf or grass growing.  It doesn’t matter, just as long as you relax and have time for yourself.

Do you have your own Oasis?

My Oasis VoxBox

This post was inspired by the Oasis Voxbox that I received for free from Influenster.  So, I’m going to share with you the contents of my box and my thoughts about them!

Welch’s Fruit Snacks: Honestly, I can’t say much about them. I didn’t try them as I am not a fan of gummy type stuff so I didn’t try them. The kids seem to love them though, so that’s something. They are made of 100% juice, so that’s great!

Eva NYC Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer: This is fabulous to keep your hair healthy! Especially before straightening or blow drying! It helps to detangle, nourish, strengthen, soften, shine, protect…well you get the idea!

Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation: Okay, I have to admit this one was fabulous! I have a much more expensive and fancier brand of foundation which doesn’t stay on through sweating and such near as well. I’m definitely going to be switching to it permanently. It stayed on well throughout the day, even under rather sweaty conditions!

Aloha Protein Bar: I’m not going to say anything about this one, I’ve not found a protein bar which I can stand the texture of so I couldn’t honestly say anything about the flavor.

Vera Wang Embrace: I have always been very loyal to my Bath & Body Works scents, I do believe this one will be a new standard in my scent collection. I really love the sweet but earthy scent that Vera Wang has created. It stays well also. Definitely a keeper!

Kaycee

Hi all! My name is Kaycee. I am now learning to navigate life as a single woman. Turns out, it's not all about husband and children. Who knew? So, I'm on a journey of self discovery.
