Prison to Freedom

 Prison to Freedom

This video is of the founder and director, Stacey Smith.  She is answering questions about the program.  Her program in the prison  enabled us to visit and speak to the ladies in the prison.  I have a whole post prepared of my story, but I wanted to share this.

Even having been there, knowing so much of what is in the video, I can’t do justice to the feeling of change and hope among these women, women who are complete strangers but have that ‘something’ about them.  It’s amazing how that works, how a power mightier than anything else can take women who will quite possibly die in prison free of a life of pain and turmoil within the bounds of bricks and barbed wire.

During our trip, we were able to meet some of these women.  It was amazing to meet women who had truly been changed.  It brings a new meaning to the word for me.  I’ve studied psychology and have taken a special interest in seeking to understand people who have committed terrible crimes.

For whatever reason, I have always wanted to understand the reasons behind their actions.  Over time, I’ve sought out the common denominator and found it repeatedly to be brokenness.  No matter the background, no matter the personality, a deep rooted emptiness seems to sit at the bottom of us.  Fortunately, not all of us have come to the point that the men and women in prison see.

Kaycee

Hi all! My name is Kaycee. I am now learning to navigate life as a single woman. Turns out, it's not all about husband and children. Who knew? So, I'm on a journey of self discovery. I have 5 children, 3 of which are married, 5 2 are in Heaven (my beautiful baby Acadia Reign and my Diva Princess Tara Elizabeth), and 7 grandchildren! Plus, a ton of fabulous nieces and nephews! My educational background is in Psychology and Child Development but my heart is in ministry, crafts, fun, reviews and my website, My Crafty Zoo. Or at least it was, now I'm learning who I really am, beneath all of the busy family life. It's an adventure to be sure. I look forward to continuing to share my life through word and pictures with you and love hearing your feedback! Thank you for taking the time to read and allowing me to share! I look forward to reading your comments!

WOW! this is amazing, I have often thought about visiting people in prison to talk about the word, But I feel I don’t know enough yet to speak out.

    • It was an awesome experience. To be honest, I don’t think (and didn’t then either) that I know enough. God gave me the words to say when I needed them. I know people say that all the time, and there was a time when I was quite doubtful, but what needed to be said just sort of came out. The lady I spoke to ended up getting saved at the service. Obviously I don’t know what has happened to her since, but I guess I did what God sent me to do. I feel like it would be the same for you, don’t let your self doubt hold you back from His Greatness.
