When I cam across Wild in Africa, I both loved their beautiful jewelry and their awesome mission! You all know I’m an animal fanatic (after all, who else would call their home a Zoo and nickname everyone in real life with animal names) so the purpose really resonates with me.

More Than ‘Just’ Gorgeous Jewelry: A Beautiful Purpose

Wild in Africa was started by Shannon Wild, a wildlife photographer and filmmaker. She shares her story on her website and I have to admit, I was both inspired and in tears. It’s absolutely inspiring. I do NOT recommend skipping out on the actual story, because you will be seriously missing out.

I’ll give you the super condensed version… After a seriously ‘only in the movies’ near death accident, she had to find something she could do that was more amenable to her health condition at the time. While still recovering, she sought out a creative outlet that would help her continue to pursue her dream. She took bracelets she’d collected in her years of travel, dismantled, redesigned and began selling them.

She says that her main passion was animals (totally relate!) so she signified her commitment to them by giving 50% of the purchase price of her products, designed with beads from all over the world, to support various animal conservation charities.

In the Package

If you haven’t seen my planner party post, I’ll let you in on a little piece of info. I LOVE stickers for my planner. Like, for real, they spark total joy. SO, when I opened the package for my bracelet, I found some very nice surprises.

The outer package opened to reveal a cardboard envelope saying ‘You’re Saving Wildlife’ inside was a burlap, drawstring bag that held the beautiful jewelry, a little folded ‘note’ that talked about the care of the bracelet, the purpose of the mission and a couple of blurbs about how it began and the charities. Beautiful Bracelet: The Real Nkombe Rhino Bracelet Review

Concern for what you are purchasing is totally understandable and a certainly important. So we’ll start with what it is, then I’ll give you my real, true opinion. The Nkombe Rhino Bracelet is meant to represent both the white and black rhinos. It is made with Howlite beads and a lava stone in the center.

The bracelet is absolutely gorgeous! It’s adjustable so you don’t have to worry about whether or not it will fit. The stones are super pretty, I love the marbling in the Howlite stones and the lava stone, set in the center of the bracelet, really pops! I also love that it would look fantastic with every skin tone and that it can go with just about anything!

The day I opened it, it went with my workout clothes so I was excited to be styling during what I hoped to be a great workout (my determination and accomplishment aren’t always the greatest). I can also see it going with my more formal clothes and my blue jeans. I absolutely love versatile jewelry!

They are also stack-able, which is super fun! It is my hope that I am able to contribute to her cause and purchase more of these gorgeous bracelets.

I’d like to give you some negative aspects, so that you know that my opinion is truly not a sales pitch but I can’t really think of any. I sat for a while, turning my wrist to look at the bracelet for some sort of something that I didn’t like but I found nothing. Rest assured, it was not for lack of trying. I am super critical, even when I’m getting paid to write an article. My honesty means more to me than finances (which is probably why I’ll never have much money, haha).
