DIY Taco Seasoning
We are taco freaks but the seasoning is so expensive! So, I found a recipe for the seasoning. It’s super easy, keeps for a long time, longer than the packaged seasoning! Plus, it’s super yummy!!!
Here goes!
This will yield enough seasoning for about half of a seasoning bottle, which will last a WHILE! You don’t use much when cooking!
Ingredients:
8 tsp onion powder
6 tsp chili powder
2 tsp corn starch
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (can add more if you’d like a bit more kick)
Mix it all in bowl, then put in jar. As with all seasonings, it’s best if kept in a dark, cool place!
To use it to make tacos, after browning meat and draining grease sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of seasoning on meat, add some water and simmer. You’ll want to simmer until almost all the water is gone so that you can get the seasoning in the meat. You could also add some before browning the meat. It works and is super yummy! You can add more seasoning if you like, just depends on how strong you’d like the flavor. Just smell it, you’ll know if you need more or not!!!
