The WoodCarver DVD Review
Okay, so I have been blessed with the chance to Preview The Woodcarver. GREAT MOVIE!!! Here are the details, this is the synopsis I was sent:
About the Movie
Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home. When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges. While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration that Matthew destroyed. Ernest has become something of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church. Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church’s beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God and in life.

Now My Thoughts
First of all, I really love John Ratzenberger! His character was done so well! It was such a believable role for him! The movie was so touching and really made me think. Not in a heavy, touch way, but it had a way of reminding me of what was important. The movie has an emphasis on ‘What would Jesus do?’, which is great, but seemed a little forced. However, I will say this: I can’t make it through a movie I don’t enjoy, and I’ll be watching this for a while! I don’t know if Mr. Ratzenberger has experience carving or if they had someone filling in for him in those parts, but the wood was beautiful done. It was a central background but was not the focus. They did very well in the story to remind viewers, or my family at least, what is important. Whether you are a kid, a newlywed, or someone who has long been married this movie will help you remember the importance of God, family, and working together.
I feel so blessed to have been able to watch this with my family. As I sit here, writing this review and watching my husband and daughter play a game of Uno I remember some of the issues the family in the movie was having. I am thanking God for having been blessed so much! The WoodCarver was such a great reminder. Even if you don’t buy it, you should watch it for the reminder. Odds are you’ll know someone who could use the message this movie sends out.
