Adventure Bible: An Epic Polar Adventure Awaits! #PolarAdventureBible! #FlyBy

The Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration Edition is a fantastic Bible for any kid! They’ll love it and enjoy their journey with Christ!

An Epic Frosty Adventure Awaits! #PolarAdventureBible! #FlyBy

Getting a new Bible, both as a child and an adult, has always been fun for me. I love flipping through and learning new things or being reminded of things I already new in the little ‘extra’ sections. It’s always fun to read what they found pertinent and re-reading those stories from a new light!

The Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration Edition

The Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration EditionThe Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration Edition is super fun all on it’s own. Throughout the Book, they have inserted images of what we imagine the polar landscape to be with each book of the Bible. Each one telling who wrote the book, why and when it was written, who it was written for as well as some of the key teachings of that particular book.

Did You Know?

Did you know? The Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration EditionThere are narration spots with penguins in ‘Did You Know?’ sections. These sections answer questions such as ‘Why do we give?’, ‘Why was Habakkuk so unhappy?’ (Habaukkuk 1-2), and ‘What is the “Word”?’ (John 1:1). I love that they took out these sections and inserted answers to questions many of us have or have had at some point. What a great way to feed the soul of Christian children!

Live It

Live It! - The Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration EditionAnother part they did has various polar animals provide ‘Live It’ sections that depict how to live out particular Biblical applications such as ‘Look in the Mirror’ based upon Matthew 7:1-5 that tell us what Jesus says about judgment or ‘What You Heard’ going further into 2 Timothy 1:13-14. These sections make it so much easier to decipher what the scripture is teaching us.

Words to Treasure

Words to Treasure: NIV Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration EditionWords to Treasure are sprinkled throughout the entire Bible, featuring various scripture and pictured with a treasure chest. One of my favorites: “Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 is included in the Words to Treasure section.

Life in Bible Times

Life in Bible Times: NIV Adventure Bible: Polar Exploration Edition

This section includes an adorable picture and a small paragraph explaining whatever the section is about. An example is depicted on the Page with Psalms 38:39 of an archer in clothing we imagine would have been worn at the time, holding a bow getting ready to fire. It tells us that Psalm 38 pictures God as an archer, His arrows wound a person who does wrong but only to help us as when we feel bad about doing wrong, w will confess so that God can forgive and heal us. I love this explanation, as it’s difficult for some to wrap their minds around such concepts.

People In Bible Times

People In Bible TimesPeople in Bible Times is another little snippet throughout. Each of these point out a person who is being spoken of in the scripture and gives a simple explanation of who they were, what they did, etc. Definitely a great way to help kids get inspired to read more about or have a deeper understanding of those God chose to be featured in the scripture!

Discover a Life of Faith

Discover a Life of FaithThere are also thicker pages throughout that include sections to deepen our learning and understanding. Such as ‘Famous Children of the Bible’ a ‘Love Passage for Kids’, ‘Two Week Reading Plan’, ‘How to Pray’, a timeline of Jesus’ life, ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, ‘Bible Verses to Read When You Feel….’, and so many more. Each of the sections include cartoon like depictions of the arctic related often to what it’s teaching.

Obviously, I’ve enjoyed the Bible a lot and I’m having issues deciding which of the children in my life would find the best use in it. There’s also a temptation to study it on my own for a while, as I love learning and being reminded of different facts myself!

The Bible is a New International Version which is quite common these days. My wish is that they’d do the same thing with King James Version as NIV has taken out and modified many things. I get that it’s meant to make it easier to read and understand as it seems that’s more difficult for people today, though I don’t remember it being particularly difficult 30 years ago.

It just takes more study, and in my opinion that is a good thing. But alas, NIV is a great way to get an understanding where one may be struggling in KJV. My NIV Bibles are for reference only. I consider them to be the ‘Cliff’s Notes’ of the Bible world.

Beloved: Focusing On The Path

Beloved is a new devotional for young women. It’s one you certainly do not want to miss, check out this post and learn a little about it!

Beloved: Devotional For Developing a Better Life #Beloved #Flyby

The importance of devotionals cannot be overlooked for one’s spiritual life. It took me a very long time to learn that lesson and has taken even longer for me to get into the habit. Honestly, I’m still waiting on myself for that one regardless of the fact that I know how much it helps each and every time I dedicate that time to God.

There’s humor in this bad habit of mine, given that I’ve written about how great devotionals are for children.  Guess this is the confession of not doing what I know we all should.  We can’t take care of anyone else if we don’t make time for God and time for ourselves.

How do you make time for God? I’d really love to learn how one makes it a true habit, like something that is just done each and every day.

It is my habit when it comes to reading devotions or studying His Word to randomly flip to a page and go. Conformity isn’t natural for me. So that’s what I did. Flipped to a page and dove in. This way, a truly objective view can be found.

Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women #Beloved #Flyby

Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women

Beloved is a devotional for young women, which makes one wonder what topics it addresses. How might the author know exactly which subjects are most important, and what scripture helps to best support the young woman who reads the devotional. While I can’t answer this, I can say that they’ve seemed to do a really great job!

Going through, I read devotions about things that every woman needs reminders of. Especially young women. Peer pressure, how one truly shows love, facing the future rather than living in things past, and compassion are just a handful of the devotional topics in Beloved.Beloved Focusing on The Path #Beloved #Flyby

Honestly, each and every short devotion took me only a few minutes to read but brought me to prayer every time. It’s so funny how one may know these things, have an understanding of the scripture discussed yet it doesn’t always pop up in the forefront of one’s mind during the times you could use them.

Overall, Beloved is a wonderful devotional. Though this blogger may not be considered a ‘young woman’ anymore (I’m really not sure where that age range is), this one is going to be the start of my attempt to develop a new habit. It’s about time for a healthy one!

Adored 365 Devotional

Looking for a perfect devotional for yourself or a young woman in your life?  Adored 365 is just what you’ve been searching for!  Definitely a top Christian gift this year.  Simply reading over a few pages gave me a few moments that I forgot were missing in my life.

Written by Lindsay A Franklin, this devotional is out of this world great.  Even her introduction moved me and reminded me of God’s love and every other type of love.  Each day’s devotion has a bit of room to journal at the bottom, making the lesson a little more memorable.  Most important of all is that each day has a different scripture associated with the devotional she has written.  As a blogger, I can certainly appreciate how much goes into writing on so many different topics.  The emotional response to each of them, however, blows me out of the water.  No doubt a ton of prayer went into each and every page of this book.

There are quite a few amazing Bibles for men, Beginner’s Bible for young children, and even ways to teach the Love of God to young children.  Be sure and check them out too!  You’ll be glad you did, might just get your shopping done pretty quick this year!

Cleaning Robots- Ebook Review

A Review of:
Cleaning Robots: How to Choose
By Lisa Moore
I recently read Lisa Moore’s E-book about choosing cleaning robots.  It is very well written and easy to read.  The ebook covers various robots for house cleaning.  It focuses specifically on robots that clean carpet, tile, and cat litter boxes.  She goes into detail about how to choose, how the robots work on the floor, as well as various aspects of batteries.
My Thoughts on the Book
The book was quite easy to read.  The author writes in such a way that it feels like someone is talking, rather than just words on a page.  I really enjoyed the smooth flow of her writing.  Furthermore, it was a lot of information on the cleaning robots.  If you are in the market for cleaning robots, or just like learning about them, I would suggest getting this book.  It won’t give you a deep look into the science of robots, but it will give you a good glimpse of  them so that you can decipher whether or not you’d like to purchase yourself one!  You can check out Cleaning Robots via this link and get yours!

5 Ways to Share God’s Love with Little Ones

5 Ways to Teach LoveJohn 3:16 was the first verse I learned as a child, I’m pretty certain that’s true for many of you. It’s certainly an important one, for we all need to know just what it says.  It’s so much more to feel it than to know it and it takes awhile to learn how to feel it I think it’s great though because it comes in just the right moments.  The question is: how do we teach children that they are loved and to be loved?  This great little Bible tract is wonderful to help them know just that.

1. Physical affection is something that children need to learn.  Perhaps you read my post about the Benefits of Hugs and we all know that little ones love being hugged and held!  A loving touch can go a long way to comfort others especially children

2. Quality time is also an excellent way to teach love, it is not necessary to spend tons of money or go to giant amusement park for good quality time.  Some of my best memories are when my mom taught me like how to make her favorite wonderful sloppy joe’s secret recipe that I spilled all across the interweb, haha.  When she taught me how to ride horses and the times when we had water pipes in the house, or went camping, or even on spontaneous road trips.  Those are where my best memories  come from.  There’s a free printable gospel plane that you may enjoy.

3. Discipline and consequences are never a fun but they are essential in ensuring that children know that they are loved and cared for.  They create a sense of security by teaching that one one thing happens it will cause another thing

4. Sticking to a schedule is also another way to show children love. Routines create comfort and security that help children feel the love that we have for them.

5. Take care of you.  I know, sounds kind of funny, but if your cup isn’t full, you simply cannot spill the best over to fill the cups of your little ones.

5 Ways to Teach LoveToday, I encourage you and challenge you to take extra time to teach God’s love and show your own one day our children will equate A Parent’s Love with God’s love.  They will learn that God is our Father, just like we are their parents, Aunts, Uncles, grandparents and role models. God’s love is unconditional Just Like A Parent’s Love is supposed to be. God is our father that will always be there, who will comfort us, speak words of wisdom in our ear, stand by our side when we are afraid, when we are hurting, and when we are victorious.

Let the little children come how many tools to help us teach our little ones or Sunday School classes or youth group or whatever the many lessons that God has for us, the greatest blessing from God that we can teach and receive is love.

Soul on Fire By Skyy Banks Book Review

Alright guys, this review is long overdue.  I had no idea how to do it, and then I realized I just needed to be completely honest.  So….  Yep….  Here goes nothin’

I was excited to do this review because I love a good book.  The synopses tells of a young woman who is getting on her feet, finding herself, defeating her demons.  I eagerly jumped into reading this and was quickly spit out of that desire.  The book doesn’t even get past the first chapter before the story begins to resemble what I would assume to be softcore pornography.  I realize that the sexuality of the character was necessary to establish the demon she is fighting about sex, but I really didn’t feel like it was a needed thing for it to go into such depth.  Whatever happened to cliffhangers???  To letting those moments go assumed, so that one’s imagination could skip over them if one so desired?

I couldn’t honestly tell you how the book turned out to be.  I couldn’t get past the first few chapters.  I kept telling myself I committed to reading it so I had too, but I couldn’t stomach it.  Way too much for me.  So, I was given the chance to do both a review and giveaway, but for the first time I am going to pass on doing a giveaway for a product.  If you want to read it, buy it.  I, however, could not finish it.

Below is the synopses provided by the companies, along with link to the author’s site if you’d like to check it out further.

Every woman knows Dana, the heroine of Skyy Banks’ debut novel, Soul on Fire. Dana, simply put, is a survivor. Her sexually abusive past has imprisoned her and she has unleashed her pain to a sea of devastation and damage. Not until she confronts her demons can she garner the strength to brave the road to redemption. As she begins her journey to release herself from the shackles of her past, Dana quickly discovers the path to salvation and freedom is anything but smooth. Set against the backdrop of the corporate world of Atlanta, Georgia, Soul on Fire chronicles a young, professional woman’s quest for inner peace and happiness.

Author Bio

Before Soul on Fire, Banks shared her works with the world through free-lance writings and continues to do so. She is a native of Arkansas who now calls Atlanta, GA her home. A staunch advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness for women and girls, Banks is driven to educate and empower others on positive life style behaviors. She is also Atlanta’s Ambassador for The Red Pump Project. She enjoys reading, writing, and traveling. Banks uses her writing as a platform to encourage her readers to explore taboo subjects and engage in dialogue to find solutions. She is a self-motivated woman and knows the world is waiting for her greatness. “The only limits are the ones I place upon myself; I don’t have any.”

EXCERPT IN AARP BULLETIN Look inside book on

When I go to the bathroom I always count (1, 2, 3…) and try to end my peeing on an even number. I have absolutely no idea why I enumerate while I urinate.
Sometimes, I grocery shop by a letter of the alphabet and buy only items starting with that letter. I love a good C-shopping day: carrots, cauliflower, cat food, corn, coffee, chocolate chips, chops, chorizo. Occasionally I invite the kids across the street over for a P party: pizza, pineapple, pretzels, popsicles and punch.

Before reading The New York Times every morning, I iron the outside of each section to sterilize it and protect myself from germs.

My socks have to be smiling when I put them in the drawer. When you roll up socks and flip one opening over the other, the little shape that’s formed at the end of the ball looks like a smile. It’s cheerful to open my drawer and see all the socks smiling!

My Thoughts
The book seriously made me laugh at times, others it made me go “wait, that’s not weird…”  Then realize that perhaps I needed to admit my being crazy!  To those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, 😛  this is not a confession!  LOL  I really enjoyed reading it, it’s a perfect bathroom reader, or even just something to keep on the table for discussion topics and random distractions!  If you have a stressful job, where people annoy the heck out of you, you want to laugh at your spouse when their little quirks have seriously maxed out your tolerance limit, this book is for you!  The topics vary, she has two other books if this one doesn’t sound like the one for you:

•And I Thought I Was Crazy! Quirks, Idiosyncrasies & Meshugaas
•In a Cell Phone Minute

You can find out what Judy is working on, thinking about, or just spitting randomly out of her head on twitter here or go by her site and vote on some classic debates here!  Who knows, they may end up in her next book!
Also, if you’d like to win your own copy, along with a Kindle and other prizes, keep checking back, I have teamed up with some awesome bloggers and Mommy Bunch to offer a giveaway coming soon.  But, that’s a few days and imagine your boredom in between!  SO, hop over to Judy’s site and get your copy of one of Judy’s great books!
Judy Reiser interviewed thousands of people for her three acclaimed books:

Her books have received much media attention with reviews and excerpts in prestigious publications such as The New York Times Book Review, AARP Bulletin, Reader’s Digest, The Washington Post, Cosmopolitan and many others as well as speaking engagements and appearances on hundreds of national and international radio and television shows.

Judy began collecting quirks when she divulged something crazy she does (she doesn’t remember which one it was—there are so many) and her friend shared something he does. After having a good laugh about it, she soon discovered that everyone has quirks. She has been observing, gathering, marveling at and laughing about quirks ever since. Her husband insists that had she written the quirk books as an autobiography, they would have been much longer!

I asked Judy about her next book, but she has yet to come up with her next book theme.  I can’t wait to know!  She admitted that she isn’t too shy to walk up to random people and ask them questions!  I love that about any person!  😀

Weirder Than Marshmallows Book Review

Weirder Than MarshmallowsSponsored by

Wierder Than Marshmallows was written by Dan Fogg.  It’s a collection of essays on various thoughts published by Night Fire Publications.  The thoughts are seemingly random, but quite relevant as they are ones we all think of.  Written as an attempt to be witty, I think the author had a great collection of ideas!  The delivery leaves enough to get your thoughts rolling and smart retorts flying around your head!  It is quite entertaining, and brings even more entertaining thoughts!

As of right now, the book is only available in PDF form, but it will keep you entertained when you need a moment of escape!  It is currently available for sale on the Kindle.

It would make a great gift for the Know-It-All in your life, or simply one to provoke conversation!

Matthew West’s All In

Matthew West's All In Giveaway Ends 10/3

Mathew West’s new album will be officially released on September 22, 2017 and seems to have a bit of hype around it.  With his past success, I can see why people are looking forward to it.  They have already released the songs on YouTube and the videos are fairly decent.  I prefer when the video tells a story to seeing people sing, but there is a healthy mix and I can appreciate that.

My Thoughts on the Music

I love the background music in All In!  It speaks to my love for cultural music.  The lyrics are inspiring as would be expected from Matthew West.  The sound is very much contemporary Christian music at it’s best  and I can see it being played at camps and in churches for years to come.  Mercy is a Song is also one of his new ones and I challenge you to listen to it without tapping your foot or moving somehow to the song, it is very similar to Hello, My Name Is.  I think my favorite song on the album is Amen

The Tracks

  1. All In
  2. Broken Things
  3. Something Greater
  4. The Sound of a Life Changing
  5. Amen
  6. 1 Song
  7. The Beautiful Things We Miss
  8. Dream Again
  9. Jesus & You
  10. Power Love Sound Mind
  11. Mercy Is a Song
  12. Becoming Me  Lulu West
  13. Never Ever Give Up
  14. You Are Known

Provided by the Sponsor:

Matthew’s heart behind the album:

Matthew wrote his new album All In with the goal of encouraging himself and others to get up off the sidelines of their faith and really live it out – to go all in in your time with God, all in with your family, all in with your community, and all in battling your fears that may hold you back from becoming who God made you to be. Along that same theme, Matthew will be launching a 6-week All in Challenge on his social media starting 9/18, and each week Matthew will be challenging his fans to go all in in a different part of their lives. What does it look like when a heart that knows Jesus takes a step and holds nothing back? How can we go All In in the places that mean the most?
