Marriage Survival Kit: DIY Wedding Gift

Marriage Survival Kit is an adorable wedding gift. It’s something for the bride and groom to both enjoy together and to remind them of good things in rough times.

Please Note: This post is a current work in progress. I’ll get it fixed as quickly as I can, I’m working on a printable for you to use with the kit. Coming soon!

I made this as a gift for a friend.  All of the items on the list I put in a gift bag for the happy couple, and the book will go in the bag.  I’ll put the list of items at the bottom of this blog.  You can add or edit as you wish, it’s always great to customize your gifts to the Bride and Groom.
For ours, I looked up scripture to go with each item and included them.  You can look up your own or take them off if you like.  I allowed 3″ of space for the words using a word processor.

I cut the paper into 4″ strips, then used the bottom portion to glue the two together which, amazingly, was LESS than 4″ even though the paper is 12×12!!!  Perhaps my math is off, because I checked my measurements 3 TIMES!!!  I glued them as pictured.

Marriage Survival Kit: DIY Wedding Gift I ended up having so much to put in that I had to add another strip to expand it.  As you can see, I printed off the item and meaning list and glued it on.

This, of course, is the cover before it’s all wrapped up and ready to go.

I tied the entire book together with double layered braided embroidery floss.

Cutting Boards: to remind you that every now and then you need to cut up and have some fun
There, in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to, because the LORD your God has blessed you. Deuteronomy 12:7
5 Pocket Organizer: to help you keep it all together when life brings you chaos
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Matthew 24:44
Straws: to help you suck it up when things get rough
If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. John 20:23
Tootsie Rolls: to remind you to roll with what life brings you
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
James 1:12
Sweetheart Chapstick: to help when you need to kiss up with your Sweetheart
What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him ‘unclean,’ but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him ‘unclean Matthew 15:11
Dip Bowls: for when you need to sort out all your sauciness!
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man is corrupted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corrinthians 4:16
Wooden Spoons: to remind you to stir things up every now and then
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works… Hebrews 10:24
Dish Cloths: to remind you to be pure of heart
He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 3:5
Kitchen Towel: so you can remember not to ever let things get too dry
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her… Ephesians 5:25
Power Clips: to remind you that God brought you together and He will always keep you
So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate. Matthew 19:6
Mesh Strainer: to remind you not to let anything put strain on your love for each other
And again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? Luke 13:20
Ephesians 5:22-33

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. [1] 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Hi all! My name is Kaycee. I am now learning to navigate life as a single woman. Turns out, it's not all about husband and children. Who knew? So, I'm on a journey of self discovery. I have 5 children, 3 of which are married, 5 2 are in Heaven (my beautiful baby Acadia Reign and my Diva Princess Tara Elizabeth), and 7 grandchildren! Plus, a ton of fabulous nieces and nephews! My educational background is in Psychology and Child Development but my heart is in ministry, crafts, fun, reviews and my website, My Crafty Zoo. Or at least it was, now I'm learning who I really am, beneath all of the busy family life. It's an adventure to be sure. I look forward to continuing to share my life through word and pictures with you and love hearing your feedback! Thank you for taking the time to read and allowing me to share!
