Book Review: An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo

I am pleased to announce that I have been given this book to review!  It’s super cute!  I will openly admit I would have never thought of all of these great limericks!  The book was written by Jeannette Ramirez and illustrated by The AIC College of Design.  I was really excited because it was the ‘Limerick Zoo,’ but I promise my review will be untainted by this serendipitous event!  😀

Now, on to the book!  An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo is an adorable book of limericks featuring 26 animals (of course, one from A to Z!).  The book is illustrated really well and you can purchase it with a coordinating Coloring Book!  Not only is it full of cute limericks, it also has facts ‘hidden’ in them!  This book will be great to use to help your child learn about the various animals AND about limericks!  With the growing popularity of Kindles, Nooks, and Ipads it would even be a great way to keep the kids occupied while driving, shopping, or waiting patiently anywhere!

I hear that it is being used by teachers, and from reading it I know that it would be great for home school!  I can envision so many lessons!  An animal a day, studying limericks, teaching the kids to write limericks!  So many possibilities!  Some of the poems could even be used to create lessons about animal habitats (hello science project!), some could be used to teach first aide (hello health lesson!), others can be used to spin up extra interest in Bible stories or history facts!

My favorite limerick is ‘G’, for Gorilla!  (Again, not just because I LOVE monkeys!) The drawing of the gorilla is so very adorable and the poem makes me giggle!  (I’m a giant kid, don’t judge me!)  There are so many great things that can be taught from this book!  Cleverly hidden among adorable graphics, coloring pages, and in cute limericks!  I’m going to be getting one for my beautiful God daughter!  She is turning two, so she won’t quite be able to understand every thing in it, but she loves to be read to and I think she will really enjoy it!

It will be perfect as a birthday present!  Really though, it could be an ‘anytime’ gift!  Obviously it doesn’t have specific ages, but I really think that it could be used to entertain kids up to probably 8 or 9.  Can’t seem to remember what age that rhyming obsession is, but it surely will be among their favorite books for that event!  If you are like me and not into the ‘digital’ books, you can print it off so don’t worry!  I plan on printing mine for said beautiful God daughter and having it laminated, that way it will last AND has the bonus of later on she can color on it with markers, erase and do it again!  Also, we can make copies if she wants to use crayons!  **The Zoo Keeper is proud of herself for thinking of this!  LOL**

Anyway, tired of my rambling???

I am aghast at your honesty!

FINE!

You can get your copy of An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo here.   The book is only $9.99 and you can share it with up to 6 people!  There are some great testimonials from parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, and even educators for you to see what they thought!  Let me know what you think!  Such an adorable way to teach our little ones!  😀

Remember to check around the Zoo for projects and recipes!  As always, please don’t feed the animals at the Zoo, as they have been known to bite a finger or two!  😀

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
