With summer in full swing I can’t help but think of vacationing. And my new favorite way to vacation is a cruise!
If you have never been on one before I’m going to give you my top 5 reasons why I love to cruise.
#1 One price for everything. Your room, food and entertainment are a one stop shop therefore you don’t have to do tons of research to figure out how much dough you will need to save up. Of course don’t forget to calculate the costs of getting to port and back. But if you prepay gratuities and research your cruise line of choice there really aren’t any surprises.
#2 Fun destinations! Who hasn’t secretly or not so secretly, as in my case, wished of traveling to other countries? I love to go to new countries and see how they live. It’s very inspiring. I tend to come home with a new outlook on life.
#3 Step outside that box!
When I go new places I like to find at least one way to step outside my comfort zone and try new things. On a cruise there are tons of ways to do that. I sampled new foods. Some were very good, others were not so much. Haha! If you have never been on a cruise make it a priority to eat in the dining room at least once. But it’s really the highlight of the ship in my opinion. The food is wonderful and at times exotic. The best part is, you can order all you want! Another way to challenge yourself is with excursions. My two best friends went parasailing on the beach of Cozumel. I’ll tell you one of them had a blast. The other was a good sport while we laughed at the video of her totally freaking out.
#4 The scenery. Have you ever watched the sun set over the ocean? It’s beautiful. The waters in the Carribean and Mexico are so clear. You can see the fishies as they swim around you. If you love to take pictures like I do, then you will love all the photo ops you can get while on a cruise and in ports.
#5 Busy, Busy, Busy! There’s always something to do on a cruise. Even if it’s just eating. The food is everywhere and it’s so yummy. The pools are a hot spot, and the shows are super fun. I caught a couple comedians, some Broadway type shows, and even hit up the casino just for fun. I played a whopping $12 haha! There are tons of other activities as well and they occur all day and into the night.
Here is a bonus #6..I love getting dressed up to go to diner each night. As a stay at home mom/writer I don’t get many chances to do that. There is one or two nights depending on the length of your cruise that is fancy wear night. That one was the most fun. Get dressed early and pop down to all the photo ops to have your picture taken!
I’m ready to set sail today after that, how about you?
If you would like more information about cruising sound off in the comments below. I have lots more information that I can give you.
I would also like to hear what you love to do on vacation, or your favorite things about cruising if you have been.

The weekend is upon us! Yay! I like to grab a good book and curl up on the swing by the pool when I don’t have much planned for the weekend.
Speaking of, I believe I mentioned in my introductory post that I am a writer. I just recently published my 3rd book. It is part of a series entitled Blu Harbor Witches. The first is Fire Within Me followed by Cursed in Love. If you enjoy Nora Roberts Witch series I think you will like mine. You don’t have to take my word for it. At the end of the post, I will link the reviews that Lia gave them over at Lia’s Bookish Obsession. With a site like that and a reading list like Lia has, you know she can spot a good book!
The main Character Elizabeth Strong is trying to find her place in the world after a bad relationship. What she found was more than just a home. She finds herself, family, and maybe even love. The new world she discovers is like a fantasy; things she thought only existed in fairy tales.
Billy Merk was raised to hate the Strong family. The resentment went back to the early 1900’s where the family feud begin. Billy never went along with the idea he had to hold grudges that truly had nothing to do with him. For reasons he did not understand at first, he felt compelled to Elizabeth.
This fueled the war and Billy’s Mother and Brother are determined to keep him from her and the rest of the Strong family. Billy would have to finally deal with the impacts of this war. Which side would he choose?
You can find both books in the Amazon store as a paperback or an ebook. I hope that you have a great weekend. If you are compelled to check out my books I would be so flattered.
Introducing the debut Author Crystal Sellers with a story of love, life, and learning to let go.
Megan Creeway spent the summer at her grandparent’s lake house. Her life had imploded and she didn’t know how to get it back. Her husband was a cheat, her son was outgrowing his mother, and her grandpa was very sick. Seeking refuge from it all, the one thing she did not expect, was to find herself being courted by the very handsome local Pastor. Reid Stone was finally enjoying his life three years after a divorce. He started over in the quaint town of Lake Charlotte as the pastor of the local church. He quickly made friends yet still led a peaceful quiet life of bachelorhood.
An Excerpt from the novel
He appeared just as captivated by the fireflies as she had just been a moment ago, watching them dance in the air above the wheat field. It was all so majestic, like a carefully orchestrated Broadway play. One thing Megan always enjoyed was how the night sounds of the country took her far away from reality.
You can read my original review on Good Reads but the skinny is: I LOVED this book! It was a great read; wonderful story of home, family, love and triumph over trials. It’s a definite page turner that you just don’t want to put down. The story will warm your heart while giving you a sense of peace and comfort about the world. The characters are well written and I felt like I knew them when I was done reading about them, like somehow they could be friends or family of mine. Though I’m not sure what would take place, I’d love to read a sequel to this book because, frankly, I feel like I miss them. While reading the book, they became very real to me. I can imagine the lives the characters would continue to live and what they might be doing, but I’d love to read it from the author’s perspective.
Hey all, Crystal here! I have been wanting to do a series on ways to overcome depression. I struggle with a recurring depression and I know how difficult it can be. But I do not like wallowing. I feel like I may have this thing that makes me sad some days. Although I do not have to let it get me down. One thing I do is journal. That may sound boring but hear me out. There are lots of ways to journal. Junk Journal, Art Journal, Bullet Journal to name a few. I even use a Travelers notebook and the ways to accessorize them are so much fun!!! So today let talk about Art Journaling. Yiu can go big or small or somewhere in between, it’s just up to you. You may be thinking, But Crystal I can’t draw! Yeah you can. Trust me. You can. because this isn’t for a prize, or to show. It’s just for you. I’m not a Picasso or a Michelangelo by any means. But it makes me happy to color, paint or sketch.
I have a secret. I just look at other peoples stuff and go from there. I don’t trace it, but I look at it to make my own version. So what do you need to get started? This is where I said go big or small. You can start with any piece of paper and colored pencils, markers, paint. Or you can go to a craft store and load up. They have blank art journals with mixed media paper or watercolor paper.. You can splurge like I finally did and get some Jane Davenport watercolors and water brush. It’s just whatever you prefer really. get started and have fun!
