Oklahoma Indian Taco

IndianTacoCrystalSellersI recently reviewed an amazing book, Summer Under My Quilt.  This recipe was provided by the debut author, Crystal Sellars.  Being a fellow Oklahoman, I can tell you the book very much depicts the part of the state the author and I grew up in.  I hope you’ll check the my review and book out, then enjoy this recipe as you read!  Without further introduction, here is the author’s recipe.  Enjoy!

Growing up in Stilwell Oklahoma I was raised on Indian Tacos.
Since I’m sure not many have tried this yummy dinner, it seemed the perfect thing to make for you all.

Brown hamburger meat. (Amount depends on your family size) add onions to taste. Then add in a packet of taco seasoning.

Next you will need to make your fry bread. I do this the cheat way. I use can biscuits or crescent rolls. Smmer Under My Quilt
Add a little oil to the pan and your dough. Flatten and fry till cooked thoroughly.

In the mean time chop your veggies:
Tomatoes
Lettuce
Black olives
Onion
Other toppings:
Shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, avocados.
Heat a can of re-fried beans.

Once your finished pile beans, meat and vegetables all on top of your fry bread and enjoy!

Super Simple Boy’s Room Decor Craft Inspirations

Hey guys!  So, being an Okie, we love our Sooners!  Funny, I love them and care nothing for sports!  LOL.  Anyway, my dear friends have a son that just loves them so I decided to make him some room decor.  I haven’t gotten to see him, but I hear he loved them!  I thought I would share the decor with ya!I used my Cricut to make the ones above, then took a sharpie and outlined them.  I cut them at 6 inches. The great thing about so many team mascots is just how basic they are.  It would have been just as easy to do just about any team, simply by making accents.  Here are some decor ideas that you might want to try.

  • Make Paper footballs, soccer balls, baseballs, etc.
  • Collegiate letters, in team colors of course!  If you can’t get the logo to look good, use them to spell out a name
  • Pendant flags are super easy, then simply use team colors and put Go —–!!!  Super easy and fast!
  • If you have any worn out ball caps, old jerseys, tees, etc can easily be modified to be a 3D art wall hanging!
  • Order information from the universities and use the logos that are in those to make collages, etc or print them off.  This is also a really great way to inspire your Monkey to go to college!
  • If it’s a sport rather than a certain team you love, life gets way easier!  Simply use anything you can get your hands on for that sport, clean it up and make something! Yard sales are a great place to find these!
  • Baseballs, basketballs, any sports stuff can be used to line a border or shelf to bring the sports indoors!

Hope this gave you some ideas!  I’d love to hear what your inspiration brings you!

What’s your favorite mascot or DIY sports decor idea!?!

What burns inside you?

Hello, Crystal here.

The weekend is upon us! Yay! I like to grab a good book and curl up on the swing by the pool when I don’t have much planned for the weekend.

Speaking of, I believe I mentioned in my introductory post that I am a writer. I just recently published my 3rd book. It is part of a series entitled Blu Harbor Witches.  The first is Fire Within Me followed by Cursed in Love. If you enjoy Nora Roberts Witch series I think you will like mine. You don’t have to take my word for it. At the end of the post, I will link the reviews that Lia gave them over at Lia’s Bookish Obsession.  With a site like that and a reading list like Lia has, you know she can spot a good book!

         What burns inside you?

Fire Within Me:

The main Character Elizabeth Strong is trying to find her place in the world after a bad relationship. What she found was more than just a home. She finds herself, family, and maybe even love.  The new world she discovers is like a fantasy; things she thought only existed in fairy tales.

Billy Merk was raised to hate the Strong family. The resentment went back to the early 1900’s where the family feud begin. Billy never went along with the idea he had to hold grudges that truly had nothing to do with him. For reasons he did not understand at first, he felt compelled to Elizabeth.

This fueled the war and Billy’s Mother and Brother are determined to keep him from her and the rest of the Strong family. Billy would have to finally deal with the impacts of this war. Which side would he choose?

You can find both books in the Amazon store as a paperback or an ebook. I hope that you have a great weekend. If you are compelled to check out my books I would be so flattered.

Cursed in Love by Crystal SellarsHere are the links to Lia’s reviews as promised.
