Fairy Village: How to Build a Magical Fairy House + Giveaway! @Crafty_ZooFairy House Work In Progress

My little Fairy House is a work in progress, I’m searching to find some specific things for some ideas I’ve got floating around in my head so I can’t show you my house just yet. I’m also waiting for some things that I’ve ordered. So, obviously, mine is a work in progress. That doesn’t stop me from giving you some direction to begin building your own!

How to Build Your Fairy House

If there is one thing I have learned, a fairy house can be built out of anything you find. Your imagination is the only thing that can truly limit you here. I love that, as it doesn’t matter if you have a ton of extra money laying around or your budget allows leaves no extra cash. It’s also a fantastic way to up-cycle things!

You Will Need:

  • Something to be your exterior and roof (can be a coffee can, an empty box or anything that suits your vision).
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Preserved or silk Flowers, leaves, moss, acorns, etc for decorations
  • Mod Podge Waterbase Sealer

Directions:

  1. Cut out a place for windows and a door from your exterior base (can, box, etc). If you aren’t intending to put anything inside, you can use black vinyl for the window
  2. Collect sticks and trim them down to the same relative sizes.
  3. Make the window trim and a front door first.
  4. Next, glue the other sticks around the exterior of your house to make more fairy like walls and do the same for the roof. Don’t worry too much about spaces, you can fill those later with moss and other decor.
  5. Seal the exterior completely (including any spaces left behind) using the Mod Podge and let dry fully.
  6. Now for the really fun part! Utilize your preserved decor and moss to decorate your cottage. You can even use sticks to make little signs and such! Get as fancy as you would like, it’s all about the fun!

A Little More Fairy Fun!

Now that you have your very own fairy house, expand as you please! You can make your very own fairy village if you’d like! Ours would have a pool hall, play house (as in a movie theater not jungle gym), a river made of glass stones and plenty of unique restaurants!

What would you put in your Fairy Village?

Hi all! My name is Kaycee. I am now learning to navigate life as a single woman. Turns out, it's not all about husband and children. Who knew? So, I'm on a journey of self discovery. I have 5 children, 3 of which are married, 5 2 are in Heaven (my beautiful baby Acadia Reign and my Diva Princess Tara Elizabeth), and 7 grandchildren! Plus, a ton of fabulous nieces and nephews! My educational background is in Psychology and Child Development but my heart is in ministry, crafts, fun, reviews and my website, My Crafty Zoo. Or at least it was, now I'm learning who I really am, beneath all of the busy family life. It's an adventure to be sure. I look forward to continuing to share my life through word and pictures with you and love hearing your feedback! Thank you for taking the time to read and allowing me to share! I look forward to reading your comments!

I would use mini fairy figurines as well as mini fairy houses. As well as smaller flowers and plants and maybe some garden flags.

  • I would build a fairy house from twigs, pine cones, and moss. I would surround the house with a rock garden, water feature, miniature birds, butterflies, and a variety of flowers.

I would plant lots of little plants that look like mini tress and put a pond in the yard of it too . My daughter made one for my mom before it was so cute. Its fun you can add to them over time .

  • I would love to win this for my Little! We build fairy houses everywhere we go (outdoors) and use all natural items, things fairies love of course. Moss on the roof, made from sticks and twigs, lined with neat rocks we find. Same materials would be perfect in a coffee can. I have to say, I have built fairy houses since I was a teen (in my 40s) with all 3 kiddos yet have never made an indoor version. Never occured to me I guess LOL We will no doubt be doing this, have all the supplies already! Thank you for the chance and the great idea for a new indoor, rainy day activity!

  • I would put some of fake small potted flowers 💐 and trees 🌳 around the house.
Sprinkle some fairy dust (glitter) on and around the house. I’d also build a wooden Lego fence around the home 🏡 to keep the tiny dogs that were in the yard. Maybe put some little patio furniture or a swing set in the yard.
