Wear Face Masks: 5 Arguments, 10 Reasons

Wear face masks. Face masks are just a thing these days. It’s not necessarily fun and we aren’t loving it, but it is a necessary addition when going anywhere public.

I’ve heard far too many people complain and refuse to wear them, people that are perfectly capable of both affording and wearing them. It saddens me, for so many reasons. So today I’m giving you a list of why we should wear the face masks, even though we really don’t want to.

If you are interested in tips to help children adjust to wearing face masks, check out that link! (It’s on this site)

5 Arguments & 10 Reasons To Wear Face Masks + a GiveawaySuck It Up, Buttercup:

1. Not everything is about us (as individuals). Perhaps you would be perfectly fine if you got Covid-19. Maybe you would be A-symptomatic. However, what if that person you go around isn’t, what if they are both highly susceptible and very likely to die or even just suffer incredibly bad for a while. Do you really want to be responsible for any of that? I don’t, which is why I wear face masks.

2. Have you ever seen the movie Butterfly Affect? It’s about how little actions, like the flutter of a butterfly’s wing, sets into motion so much more that we never would have thought were related. What if wearing a mask, or not wearing one, is your butterfly affect moment. It could go in so many ways, perhaps wearing it saves a life or, worse, perhaps not wearing it literally takes a life. It may even take the life of someone you love deeply and truly. Like your grandparents, your parents, or even your best friend.

3. Regardless of what you may believe, Covid-19 is not the same as the flu. If it were, it wouldn’t be killing so many people. The flu does not kill people at this rate. Period. Plus, we have cures and vaccinations for the flu. So, go ahead and let that one go.

4. The numbers are not inflated. The entire world does not care enough about Trump or the US elections to shut down and kill off their people just to sway an election. Nor do the doctors who fill out the death certificates. It is not feasible to believe that every single doctor is out to get Trump or the Republican party. (and before you get all up in arms, I’m a Republican)

5. It doesn’t hurt us. It’s a pain and uncomfortable and different than our norm. However, it causes us no personal harm to wear the stupid masks. None. We can even make it kind of fun, with various prints or whatever. Be above the politics.

5 Arguments & 10 Reasons To Wear Face Masks + a GiveawayHappier Reasons to Wear a Mask:

6. We can accessorize them to our favorite outfits

7. It’s a new way to express ourselves.

8. Nobody can see if we have RBF… If you don’t know what that means you’ll have to google it.

9. We can create and wear designs that make people smile.

10. What other time will it ever be totally cool to rock your favorite characters, pets, or whatever.

11. Advertise your favorite non-profit, organization, scripture or quote.

12. Be a good example (with very little effort!)

13. You don’t have to fake smile, nobody can see anyway!

14.  You can feel good knowing that you’ve done the right thing.

15. When you buy one from Mask Market, they donate one to those in need!

I wear my mask because I have kids and 2 year old twin grandsons that I want to protect and be around for.I do have Asthma, but feeling trapped for a little while is worth dealing with versus the risk of becoming ill or worse.I understand people that have medical conditions and wearing a mask might cause them anxiety etc.But I can’t understand why a person would not wear one because they simply refuse to abide by rules.

    • I agree completely! I don’t enjoy wearing them, but I know I am much less likely to hurt anyone I love when I wear them and that is worth it to me.

I like the gaitor option but I wonder if they’re as effective as masks

    Reply
    • In theory, as long as they are thick enough and cover enough to minimize water particles to get through they should be good. I wonder as well.

I wear a mask because it is illegal in our state to be out of the house without a mask on. If six feet apart, not wearing one outside is ok. However, I’ve been wearing one since the pandemic started because I am an essential worker and come in contact with many people

One of the reasons I wear a mask is that my mother is older and she has a few health issues that put her at risk. She lives on her own but those of us who are not around her on a daily course do not want to get germs near her as for her to contract the virus. Another reason is that it is mandated in the state that I live.

    Reply
    • I am with you on both points! Protecting my elders and loved ones is at the top of my reasons why list. It’s mandated here as well, but we were wearing them long before it was mandated for that first reason.

I wear a mask I guess you could say because I have to. I wouldn’t be able to shop for our elderly parents and their friends. I live in a small rural county where we have had only 3 deaths (and then rumor has it only one was actually covid with no underlying health problems). I would hate it if I didn’t wear one and our parents got sick…I would blame myself.

    Reply
    • Girl, you and me both! I’m not so worried about my getting it (made my peace with God long ago) but I’m terrified of making someone I love or anyone sick or worse. I’d never let it go. Life has taught me I don’t let go of things well, instead they eat at me randomly.

Learned they come with filters which the majority of masks online don’t.

    Reply

I really don’t know if mask helps or not but I wear them to hopefully protect myself and the employees of the stores I shop. I think it’s respectful to wear them when shopping because the store employees are they all day to serve us. I know of three men that have died from Covid and it scares me really bad to think about my family catching it.

    Reply
    • It seems like the studies and such say they do, apparently as long as you can spritz water through them then they offer at least some protection. I see people pulling them off or wearing them under their nose and all I can think about is how it’s airborne and they aren’t helping anyone! In my opinion, if they help even a little it’s worth it.

    • Definitely get some washable ones! My understanding is that the germs stay on them for quite some time so we aren’t actually supposed to re-wear them! Personally, I’m an environment freak so I think about that as well with having re-usable masks (well everything really).
