Exhale by Plumb

Plumb

Exhale is an interesting album with great production!  I chose to do this review after listening to part of the music online and thinking it sounded great.  That being said, I think you should check her out and decide for yourself.  It’s very difficult to write a review when you didn’t necessarily love the product.  I hate being ‘mean’ but I also will not be dishonest as God demands it and I feel I owe it to you, my readers.  Unfortunately I feel like the artist’s voice lacked the depth and feeling one has when pouring out their soul to God in song.

The lyrics of the song were beautiful and well written but when sang, it seemed like there was little to no feeling.  I can’t imagine singing such beautiful words, meaning them, and still sounding like I am singing about something mundane.  I feel like God is all encompassing and if I am singing for him, it is my heart pouring out.  That always entails strong emotions.  I honestly felt like there is more emotion manifested in Disney songs than on this album.

If you are a fan of contemporary Christian music, you may hear this and think my opinion is wrong.  I hope so, as this music is supposed to be a touching tribute to God and to help the listener feel His presence.  I am never opposed to that wonderful feeling when God pops ya upside the head and goes ‘hear that? remember how I love you always?’  Perhaps it would be a different description for you, that may be the country Southern girl coming out in me.  LOL.

Regardless, check her music out and give it a shot.  I’d love to hear your opinion after you listen to a song or two.  I’m always up for other perspectives!

About PLUMB:

Tiffany Arbuckle Lee, better-known by her stage name Plumb, is a songwriter, recording artist, performer and author. Plumb has sold more than 500,000 albums and over two million singles worldwide, co-penned songs for numerous other artists, including Michelle Branch, Mandisa, Mandy Moore, Jaci Velasquez, and Natalie Grant, and had music placed in many films and television shows.Originally signed as a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) recording artist in 1997, Plumb is now known as well as or better in alternative rock, electronic dance music, and for the use of her music in film and television than she is in the CCM market.

About the album:
EXHALE, the seventh studio album from acclaimed multi-genre singer, songwriter and author PLUMB, expresses a new focus and vision. After the runaway success of NEED YOU NOW (the album, title track and book), which coincided with her own moving story of brokenness and ultimately healing, Exhale brims with worshipful songs of gratitude and hope. The defining concept of EXHALE was born from a sermon at Plumb’s home church, wherein her pastor Pete Wilson expressed the notion that the Church doesn’t exist for itself. Rather, believers come to church to breathe in grace and truth, be changed, and then go out and “exhale” that hope into their surrounding community.“That idea of exhaling hope hit me right away and I couldn’t get to the Notes section on my phone fast enough. I started writing the chorus of Exhale right then and there,” explains Plumb. “I have been made new by the ultimate hope, and I want to share and exhale that hope in everyway I can.”

Susie’s Hope

Susie's Hope

About the Movie

Based on the true story that successfully passed Susie’s Law in North Carolina, which seeks stricter punishment for animal abusers, Susie’s Hope brings to life the inspirational relationship between pit bull attack survivor Donna Lawrence and Susie, a pit bull-mix puppy found beaten, burned and left for dead. Recognizing reflect and abuse were to blame for the tragic attack that nearly claimed her life 10 months earlier, Donna resumes the battered animal and accepts her as family. Together, they learn to heal, love and forgive as thyey lead a historic effort to seek justice and protection, not only for Susie, but all animals. Starring Emmanuelle Vaguer (40 Days and 40 Nights), Burgess Jenkins (Remember The Titans) and Andrea Powell (Ender’s Game, The Twighlight: Breaking Dawn Saga: Part 2), Susie’s Hope is an incredible story of love, loss and redemption.

My Thoughts

So I will admit I bawled like a baby throughout pretty much this whole movie.  Although my hormones of my pregnancy or the fact that I’m unable to be near my own pups right now could quite easily be blamed!  Susie’s Hope is such a touching story.  I especially love the perspectives they used in filming some of the scenes!  While the movie description will give you plenty of the story, I just really hope you’ll consider taking the time to get the movie or even donate to the cause.  Honestly, any cause that helps animals with their care, legitimate ones.  I’m not always convinced that these big charities are actually doing what they are supposed to be doing (this is not at all referencing Susie’s Hope).  It’s our responsibility to ensure that we are donating to causes that are really helping.

Sadly, there are so many stories similar to this that don’t end so well.  I’m thankful for someone who had the opportunity and were willing to stand up to bring attention to abused animals.  They certainly need a voice.  It wasn’t long ago that I saw a picture on facebook going around trying to find some fool hurting animals so that they could put help put an end to it.  That’s a good start, but it really isn’t enough.  Would you be that person who didn’t say anything about something like this for fear of hurting a friendship?  Or would you be brave enough to put a stop to it and turn them in?  The right thing isn’t always easy, but it is always right.  I love the quote found at the end of the movie.  “It may be true that the law cannot change the heart, but it can restrain the heartless.”  -Martin Luther King, Jr.  Another quote I will add, which is heard often from my husband, is this:  “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” -Edmund Burke.  Don’t be one who helps evil to triumph, stand up and do something.

About SusieSusie

Susie was found nearly dead in Greenfield Park in Greensboro, North Carolina on August 20, 2009. Just a puppy, Susie had licked the face of her owner’s newborn baby. Her owner became violent—she was beaten so severely her jaw was broken. That wasn’t enough, though. She was then set on fire and left for dead. Incredibly and against all odds Susie survived. Donna Lawrence adopted her two months later. Susie is now a trained therapy dog and event won the American Humane Association’s American Hero Dog this year!

Nature’s Sleep Memory Foam Slippers

slipperReviewNature’s Sleep has some great product!  We have a bed that we purchased from them and absolutely love it!  Everyone that sits/lays on it immediately loves it too!  If you are in the market, check them out!  Today, though, we are talking about those fabulous slippers!  They are so incredibly comfortable!  I wear mine pretty much nonstop around the house (almost walked out the front door in them a few times, LOL).
The slippers have memory foam in the sole of them.  I will say that I’ve never really put much faith into the memory foam.  I really thought that it wouldn’t be long until the memory foam no longer sprang back up.  I feared the inevitable sinking into the shape and no longer being comfortable.  However, that hasn’t become a problem at all!  Every time I slip my feet into them, they are as  soft and plush as the first time I put them on.  Never just being ‘worn’ in.
The only thing I didn’t like was that the soles weren’t very thick.  I prefer thicker soles as we have concrete floors in most of our house and I crave that comfort!  I wish that the plastic were a bit thicker, as there were occasions were I could feel my heel hitting the concrete.  I will admit though that I tend to walk ‘heavy footed’, so that may not be a problem for you.  The memory foam will outlast the soles of the shoes, which would be great if there were someone around to redo the sole of the shoe for me!
Overall, I really love my new slippers!  They are comfortable and not flimsy.  I got the open toe ones because I hate when my feet get hot and they didn’t disappoint!  Go visit the Nature’s Sleep website to get yours!  You can pick up some slippers (as a great price, I might add) and even order a new mattress right from your computer!

Please note that I received a pair of slippers for review purposes.  No monetary compensation was offered.  My opinions are always my own!  Please see the PR tab for a complete PR disclosure!  Good luck!
