Meet the Fuzzwippers Book Review

Hey Everyone!  I recently reviewed a children’s book entitled “Hello, We’re the Fuzzwippers” and it was adorable!  As you can see, my little God-Monkey (God-child, I am not saying that she is God!)  loved it.  The pictures were from the humteenth time she had looked through it after we read it together.

The story is introducing the Fuzzwippers, which is the first book in a series of children’s books and it’s adorable.  The basic essences is that they are always with you when you need them.  I think it’s an adorable concept and I couldn’t help but think when I read it that I needed a little FuzzWhipper to keep in my van!

You can get your own little Fuzzwipper…..  I mean, a Fuzzwipper for your little one!  Click here to find out more about them!!!  The Fuzzwipper is free, just pay shipping.  I really think that they are adorable and the concept is even better!
FuzzWippers come in four colors and will soon have a playset to encourage Monkey imagination.

I think this book, along with a Fuzzwipper will make a great birthday or Christmas gift.  We enjoyed going through and finding the Fuzzwippers throughout the pages with the children pictured.  It’s a great tie in for how God is always with you as well.

I want to say a big, huge thank you to the author, Marilynn Halas who not only sent me a copy for review, but so sweetly autographed it as well!  The book is published by 4 Sunflowers Media, LLC and you can check them out here.

Seriously though, the Garden View Kitchen may be the absolute best playset for every young child and toddler!  It is well designed, incorporates multiple types of play, and even comes with it’s own storage space and accessories!  Now that’s a win for every parent!

 Garden View Kitchen

Garden View Kitchen: Make Believe At It's Best @Simplay3company

The Garden View Kitchen is the perfect gift for any occasion!  It’s easy to follow directions will keep you from pulling your hair out and the kids will be ready to play in no time!  It was very easy, once I began following the directions…

It has not only a shingled roof and serving area for your dining customers (can we say math learning opp?), but it has a play oven, refrigerator, microwave and stove top with working doors and knobs!  Nothing better than pretending with the same tools the parents get to use!  Hopefully, it will help keep them out of the kitchen when you are trying to cook dinner!

Garden View Kitchen Accessories! Make Believe at It's Best!!! @Simplay3company

Accessories!  It was pleasing that the Garden View kitchen came with accessories!  So many toys these days require additional purchases in order to get started.  It comes with 30 accessories including tableware, pots, pans and cooking utensils!  Everything two children need to prepare their imaginary meal!

All about the Mud Pies

One could not write this post without this story, so prepare yourself!  As a child, my life needed this fantastic kitchen.  Don’t believe me?  Read on…

Since I didn’t have access to toys such as these, I used the real thing.  What else could a kid do?  I was ‘forced’ to use my Great Granny’s double oven to cook my mud pies.  After all, she cooked pies in the top oven so of course my pies needed to be cooked!

Fortunately, my Granny was all about encouraging my imagination!  She allowed and encouraged me to make my mud pies and bake them!  I’d go down to the stream, fill an old (or at least I hope it was old) pie pan with mud, then bring it back up to the house and put it in the oven to be baked as a proper pie should!

As an adult, this mom is amazed at what my Granny’s let me do to encourage my creativity!  Long before the education benefit was a thing, my Granny’s let me play and create!  I can’t imagine myself allowing the same for my children, but who knows…

Pretend Play & Child Development

Pretend Play, also known as imaginative play or make-believe, is essential to the social and cognitive development in children.  That’s why they naturally do it: to learn!  By acting out what they see, children are demonstrating what they know, as well as processing and developing an understanding of them.

They are also showing you what they think they see, which is the best chance for your to correct and guide what they learn.  Of course, they also have a really good way of teaching us as adults to fix our ‘little’ behaviors.

Have you ever seen your little one doing exactly as you do while they play?  Saying what you say?  Yeah, that’s always fun.  haha

Garden View Kitchen: Make Believe at it's Best! @Simplay3company

The Verdict

This parent, blogger, and student of child development can’t say enough about this playset!  The Garden View Kitchen enables children to play in so many ways!  Whether playing house, chef, waitress or whatever their little minds come up with you’ll enjoy the pleasure they take while unknowingly learning so much!

Children’s Book Review: A Perfect Pet for Peyton

A Perfect Pet for Peyton is a cute little book about a set of twins, Peyton and Penny.  Of course, the main subject is about getting Peyton the perfect pet.  The story is very cute in itself, but there is a much deeper lesson to this book.
Before I get into that, I have to tell you one of the things I loved about the book!  In an unassuming place on many of the pages, there is a different activity.  For example, the first page of the story tells you that there is an insect hidden in each picture of the book.  I’m not gonna spoil the rest for you, but finding the bugs was a fun little activity.
Now, to the underlying focus of the book!  This adorable little book was written to teach your little Monkey(s) about the 5 Love Languages of Children.  The story itself identifies and explains each love language in an easy to understand way for the kids.
The final feature I really enjoyed is the Love Language Quiz for kids.  It really encourages conversation and further understanding of the languages.  It’s a great way to not only teach your little one, but to also learn yourself so that you can utilize your little one’s love language in helping them grow and develop!
All in all, this book is a great children’s book.  The story was very imaginative and the pictures were even better.  I was quite amazed and entertained by them!  Go and get yours!  You’ll enjoy reading it as much as the kids enjoy flipping through it!
The following is the book description:

This wonderfully imaginative children’s hardcover book by bestselling authors Gary Chapman and Rick Osborne, featuring four-color illustrations (with hidden details!) by Wilson Williams, Jr., will help children learn the importance of love. Based on Gary’s highly successful The 5 Love Languages®, A Perfect Pet for Peyton tells an entertaining and playful story of five children who each, with the help of Mr. Chapman and the unique pets at his special emporium, discover their own personal love language. Children and parents alike will experience firsthand the power of the love languages as they cuddle up and spend precious time together reading this book over and over again.

5 Ways to Share God’s Love with Little Ones

5 Ways to Teach LoveJohn 3:16 was the first verse I learned as a child, I’m pretty certain that’s true for many of you. It’s certainly an important one, for we all need to know just what it says.  It’s so much more to feel it than to know it and it takes awhile to learn how to feel it I think it’s great though because it comes in just the right moments.  The question is: how do we teach children that they are loved and to be loved?  This great little Bible tract is wonderful to help them know just that.

1. Physical affection is something that children need to learn.  Perhaps you read my post about the Benefits of Hugs and we all know that little ones love being hugged and held!  A loving touch can go a long way to comfort others especially children

2. Quality time is also an excellent way to teach love, it is not necessary to spend tons of money or go to giant amusement park for good quality time.  Some of my best memories are when my mom taught me like how to make her favorite wonderful sloppy joe’s secret recipe that I spilled all across the interweb, haha.  When she taught me how to ride horses and the times when we had water pipes in the house, or went camping, or even on spontaneous road trips.  Those are where my best memories  come from.  There’s a free printable gospel plane that you may enjoy.

3. Discipline and consequences are never a fun but they are essential in ensuring that children know that they are loved and cared for.  They create a sense of security by teaching that one one thing happens it will cause another thing

4. Sticking to a schedule is also another way to show children love. Routines create comfort and security that help children feel the love that we have for them.

5. Take care of you.  I know, sounds kind of funny, but if your cup isn’t full, you simply cannot spill the best over to fill the cups of your little ones.

5 Ways to Teach LoveToday, I encourage you and challenge you to take extra time to teach God’s love and show your own one day our children will equate A Parent’s Love with God’s love.  They will learn that God is our Father, just like we are their parents, Aunts, Uncles, grandparents and role models. God’s love is unconditional Just Like A Parent’s Love is supposed to be. God is our father that will always be there, who will comfort us, speak words of wisdom in our ear, stand by our side when we are afraid, when we are hurting, and when we are victorious.

Let the little children come how many tools to help us teach our little ones or Sunday School classes or youth group or whatever the many lessons that God has for us, the greatest blessing from God that we can teach and receive is love.

Will your kids eat their veggies?…Copy-Kids DVD Review

Will your kids eat their veggies?...Copy-Kids DVD Review

Hey Everyone! SO, lately I’ve been keeping my friends little Monkeys. So, our Zoo is now full of Monkeys! C is 4 years old and L is 2! Lord, are we ever busy! I’m so use to my teen, dealing with the occasional issue, that I’m a little off my game! One thing that drives me nuts is picky eaters, but aren’t they all!?! LOL. It’s all good though, I’ve found that if I don’t say the name of something, they seem to like it better. Another thing I’ve found, is this DVD. Copy-Kids is just what it sounds like: a video to get kids to copy! It features some very adorable little Monkeys eating veggies and giggling. L informed me that two of them were her best friends! LOL. Such adorable little ones! Anyway, back to the video. It is divided into 12 chapters, featuring various fruits and veggies. The concept is basically re-enforcing eating healthy foods by our little ones watching other kids eating them. I will admit that at snack time, as her choice argument, Monkey told L that ‘her best friend liked carrots’ to which L said she liked them too! Funny how that worked out, but then that’s why they came up with it! Personally, my favorite chapter was bell peppers. Man those kids were enjoying them! 😀 Another little cool feature, aside from getting the Monkeys to eat their fruits and veggies, is that they have this little bird that flies through the screen every now and again, tweeting. The tweeting tends to get the attention of the kids again when they get distracted. Personally, I think that it would be really great to break them up and then let the kids try that fruit or veggie! C & L enjoyed the movie, declaring and wanting various veggies! You can get your copy of Copy Kids here.

Will your kids eat their veggies?...Copy-Kids DVD ReviewThe DVD runs about $19.95. Personally, if it gets the Monkeys to eat, want, and ask for as well!!! Go and get yours today! Go, get yours. Help the nutrition your little one will eat! Another link to their site. You can watch a sneak peak!

Motivating your Teen to study

Every parent knows that the teenage years is the rebellious age. Sometimes

the revolution starts even before they become a teenager.  Even though my
kids are not yet in the teenager stage I have taught teenagers before in
my teaching career and they are certainly not easy to handle.

Studying doesn’t seem “cool” to some and most of them rather spend time
doing all the fun things like playing games, watching movies and hanging
out with their peers.

It would be pointless to nag at them about the virtues of good grades.
Having been a teenager myself I dreaded being told that it would be for my
best if I studied hard and got good grades in school.

How then can one motivate your teen to study?

It is not an easy task which needs a lot of discipline and patience on the
part of the parent. However once you are able to equip your teenager with
the right tools to study they would be self-motivated and you would only
need to monitor your child and let him take the reins.

As a parent you can help lay the foundation by doing the following

  1. Teaching Time management
Show them organizational techniques so that they will be able to schedule
their time properly and have time to both play and study and will not
    dread studying so much.

  2.

  3. Lead by example through continuous learning.
Sign up for courses and continue your own education even after you have
    finished school.

  4.

  5. 3.       Set up open lines of communications.
Let your teenager know who and where they can turn to if they
have difficulties in their studies. By providing them with the support
they need your teenager is assured that there are people to turn to in
    times of need.

  6.

  7. 4.       Understand and address their fears.
Most of the times teenagers may face self –esteem problems and as
a result it trickles into their motivation to study. By helping them
address their fears or problems that they face will give them more
motivation to be committed to studying.
Help your teenager set his academic goal will also give him focus and
    motivation to study hard.

  8.

  9. 5.       Provide Motivational/ intrinsic
    rewards.
This may or may not work as well with a teenager as compared to a
younger kid but I believe that everyone will work better if there is a
reward in mind. It could be concert tickets to their favourite rock band
or time off to spend with their friends on a weekend instead of spending
time with the family.  The reward you choose should be something that your
teenager is aiming for and doesn’t have access to it at the moment.

What else can you add on to this list to
motivate your teenager?

Tig Tagz Review

Hey Everyone!  I was given the chance to review these and I am so thankful!  Okay, I’ll give ya the lowdown!

Tig Tagz are similar in material to a hospital bracelet for your little one!   That’s probably a terrible comparison, hospital bracelets usually bring bad feelings, but these are to help you keep your little one safe!  Ever had your toddler take off in the 37 seconds it took you to reach for something?  If you haven’t, well you are amazing!  But if you have, you know the fear that comes along with that.  Even if it’s just a second.

A few months ago I was in a large store and there was a little girl, about 3 I’d guess who was lost.  She was, obviously, very upset.  She was basically just asking “where’s mommy???”  We asked her what Mommy’s name was, and all she knew was Mommy.  I was scared for this baby!  Fortunately, the store wasn’t too packed and we were able to find Mommy.  I couldn’t help but politely ask Mommy to teach little one her real name!  I felt bad, like I was sticking salt in her wound, but I’d rather feel bad for a little while than to see this little angel’s face on a milk carton!

Okay, now that I have your attention…  These tags were made for Moms, by Moms.  Great reason to know it’s good right there!  But, if you need more, here ya go!  The bands, when put on properly, can only be removed by scissors!  Sweat, water, nothing but scissors can ruin these things!  They also have different designs for boys and girls, as well as a special line of bracelets for medical information.  Put your little angels name on them and your cell.  If for some reason you’re monkey gets lost from you, you’ll have a little help in your panic knowing that if someone else finds them first, they can find you!

Anyway, hope you check them out.  You can find them at their website here and get yours.  Give yourself some added peace of mind.  Being a parent is hard enough!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Absolutely Free Gospel Plane: Get Yours Before they are Gone!

Absolutely Free Gospel Plane: Get Yours Before they are Gone! This gospel plane is absolutely adorable and you can print it out for free!  (Love that as well!) Paper airplanes and fold up notes seem to be an obsession from a young age. I can remember the little boys folding their Sunday school lessons up into paper airplanes before class was even over, which is so funny because to this day it drives me crazy when there are creases in paper.  I would always keep mine perfectly straight. lol

Let the Little Children Come fixed that problem by making a Sunday school lesson that’s is meant to be folded into an airplane!  It both amuses me and speaks to me, I don’t know why I never thought of this whenever I taught Sunday School.  Of course, I taught the younger children so they weren’t making airplanes yet, just balls of paper!

On more than one occasion, I have blogged about how much I love their products, like their Halloween tract, my color Inspiration post,  wordless books, and this Plane is no different!  The paper airplanes are such a great idea and such a wonderful teaching tool!  It also goes beyond teaching the Word and helps to exercise the skill and dexterity with hands that the children are learning as they grow and develop.

I was racking my brain trying to think of lessons that go along with airplanes in the Bible and it occurred to me, one of the best lessons might be about how the bird scouted out the land when Noah was sailing.  Then there are lessons that can be taught about how, from an airplane, it’s difficult to see what’s going on on the land but God can see everything because He is everywhere and knows everything!  I’m equally sure that you can come up with even more lessons to utilize them!  I hope that you’ll come back and share your thoughts and ideas!

CrindelStar Review: A Plantable Story!

CrindelStar is adorable!!!  It’s getting raves by so many people and after listening to it, I can see why!  It’s an adorable and inspirational story!  As a Mom with an imagination, it really makes me smile!

The story has so many hidden little lessons that we all know and want our kids to know within the tale of a little girl named Maria who is struggling with belief, peer pressure, and self confidence.  One of the many things I love about it is that rather than making it a ‘battle’ with friends, Maria learns her great lesson in a dream and upon awakening, runs to tell her Grandmother!  I remember the days when telling our family was more important than telling our friends.  Seems like kids don’t do that anymore!

Something that is unique to CrindelStar is the packaging.  It’s a download and they send you a mini album cover made of hand made paper embedded with wildflower seeds.  What I really love is the ‘magic’ of the story that can come to life through the growth of the wildflower seeds.

As a Christian, I’ve seen and dealt with people who feel that God isn’t real.  If they can’t see His physical presence, they choose not to believe.  I feel like this story can be used as a great lesson for the kids in believing. We can use it to talk to them about believing in Him.  The hand made paper can be used as a metaphor for God inside us, planting can symbolize Him being in our hearts, while waiting for the wildflowers to grow we can talk to them about how even though we can’t see that the seeds are there, we know that we have planted them just like we know that God is in our hearts.  When the wildflowers begin to grow, we can use the phases of growth to teach them about how God grows in our hearts to for us into something beautiful!  Okay, don’t know where that came from, but I have to go call our children’s pastor now.

Go and check them out here and buy their album for your little ones!  Use it to teach!  BTW, there is also a song that comes with the story.  😀

Mo Phillips Kids CD: Monster Suit

Hey Everyone!!!  Hope this day is finding you blessed and well!!!  Thanks to the great folks over at Mom Blog Society, I have a great kids CD by Mo Phillips to tell ya about!

Monster Suit
By Mo Phillips

From a musical perspective, they play very well!  I have a very musical family so I pay attention to how the music is played!  Some of the songs have the typical kids song music going on and others go around a good bit of the musical spectrum, at least enough so you aren’t going nuts.  No ‘I Love You’ type songs!    I will say, it’s the kind of music that you’ll feel silly singing when you get caught around your grown up friends!  It’s catchy!

All of the songs are upbeat and fun, but they do have a, shall we say, caucasian feel to them even though they are said to be a mix of 50’s Rock and Roll, folk, country, and ‘African American’ influence.  I could hear the first three in the songs…

My favorite song, you wonder?  “To the Zoo”  LOL. That one was too perfect of a title!  LOL.  The songs are adorable and some of them admittedly have made me giggle!  Even my teenager was entertained!  *don’t tell anyone I told you! LOL*  The little ones bob their heads and I admit I was tapping my foot to some of them!

Anyway, needless to say I did enjoy it!  Love jammin’ to the kiddie songs!!!  😀  You can follow him on facebook and twitter.  Mo Phillips has a very interesting story!
